Toner with Apple Cider Vinegar
and Marshmallow Root
This
natural, alcohol free facial toner with apple cider vinegar
is so gentle and soothing that it is suitable for all skin types, including
dry, sensitive or mature skin, or even skin with eczema or acne.
The formula is full of beneficial ingredients. In a base of pure distilled
water, I added distilled, alcohol free witch hazel (NOT the kind you buy
in the drug stores!), since witch hazel has astringent properties and
works well as a skin toner. To this, I added a little bit of organic apple
cider vinegar.
After reading about apple cider vinegar, I was amazed at how many skin
benefits it actually has. Because it is organic, and it hasn't been destroyed
by distillation, it still contains both enzymes and natural malic acid
(a AHA from apples) which will aid in the process of gentle exfoliation.
It also contains minerals, vitamins, beta carotene and pectin, which soothes
the skin and improves circulation. Not to mention that it tones and firms
the skin, and it can even clear up eczema if you use it in diluted form.
So, I couldn't resist - apple cider vinegar had to be part of the facial
toner formula!
When
spritzing the face with this facial toner, you can
faintly smell the apple cider vinegar for about 10 seconds, and then it
fades. Personally, I love it, but I don't know about you. If you hate
the smell of vinegar, this facial toner is probably not for you, but if
you don't mind the smell, your skin will definitely benefit.
Next, I added skin soothing plantago
leaf extract, organic marshmallow root extract, organic licorice root
extract and chamomile flower water. These botanicals are known for their
soothing, calming, anti-irritant, anti-inflammatory properties that promote
healthy skin. I can also mention that licorice root extract is supposed
to have skin lightening properties that can prevent hyper pigmentation
and age spots. Therefore, licoric root extract is the perfect ingredient
in formulations made for very pale or mature skin types that are extra
susceptible to sun damage.
And, last, but not least, I added pure rose water, which moisturizes,
heals the skin and uplifts the spirit, vegetable glycerin, which is also
a humectant that can draw moisture to the skin, and panthenol (B5) which
is a humectant that aids in skin absorption.
Never underestimate the value of a good facial toner; it can do wonders
for your skin.

Directions:
Spray the faciall toner on the face after cleansing, or use as a hydrating
spritz whenever needed. After spraying it on the face, it is best to
seal in the moisture from the toner by adding a moisturizer or facial
oil on top, such as the natural
facial moisturizer with hyaluronic acid, or the facial
moisturizing oil, if you prefer using oil.
Personal notes:
I use this facial toner every night, and my skin loves it. The skin
texture has improved, and it no longer looks dull. In the daytime, I
prefer using the Rosewater
Toner with hyaluronic acid.
