Facial Toner with Rosewater and Hyaluronic Acid

The purpose of the facial toner with rosewater and hyaluronic acid is to tone, repair and prevent sun damage. I started out with a mixture of distilled water, alcohol free witch hazel distillate, kosher vegetable glycerin and rosewater for toning and moisturizing. To this, I also added some hyaluronic acid, which is the most important of all the moisturizing ingredients in this formula.

Hyaluronic acid is a natural component of the skin that is lacking in mature or dry skin. This ingredient can hold its own weight in water 1000 times, and it therefore bathes the surface of the skin, as well as the deeper layers, in moisture. The increased moisture levels plump the skin, which reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and also helps increase the penetration of other skincare ingredients into the deeper layers of the skin.

The hyaluronic acid used in this formula is of the highest quality. Both vegan and paraben free. It is normally found only in high end skincare products that are full of toxic chemicals. Therefore, the facial toner with rosewater is a great alternative to toxic skincare products, and a must for anyone struggling with dry, mature, wrinkled or sun damaged skin.

In addition, the facial toner also contains organic acai berry extract, which is one of the most potent anti-oxidant superfoods on the market. Straight from the rain forests where the locals call it "the tree of life," acai berries contain a large amount of beneficial agents, such as omega fats, proteins, vitamins, trace minerals and essential amino acids. Acai is also known for its anti-inflammatory properties as well as its ability to combat premature aging. Due to its unusually high content of anti-oxidants, about 10 times more than red grapes, Acai can effectively destroy free radical formation from UV exposure. (Free radicals are unstable molecules that attack healthy skin cells and either destroy them, or turn them into cancer cells.) Therefore, acai is considered one of the most potent ingredients you can add to any anti-aging skin care formula to prevent pre-mature aging from sun damage, and personally, I also think that the use of anti-oxidants in skin care products is an important factor when it comes to preventing the formation of skin cancers caused by excessive UV exposure!

To top it off, I added Gingko Biloba extract, Olive Leaf extract, Rooibos Leaf extract, White Tea and Green Tea extract to the facial toner, all botanicals well known for their anti-oxidants properties. This makes the facial toner with rosewater the perfect daytime toner, especially beneficial for very pale or mature skin that easily suffers from sun damage, or for anyone who wants to prevent sun damage. (Just remember, you still need to wear sunscreen!)

Directions: Lightly spray on the face before applying moisturizer. Make sure the eyes are closed when spraying, because even though hyaluronic acid is not hazardous to your health in any way, it can still cause a slight burning if it is sprayed directly into the eyes. If the eyes are very sensitive, apply the spritz with a cotton pad instead of using the spray.

Personal notes: I prefer using the rosewater facial toner as a day time toner (to prevent sun damage), and the apple cider toner at night (for toning, soothing and exfoliation), but that is my own personal preference.
